The Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival makes its mark at the 58th ITB (world's leading tourism industry fair) in Berlin this week, consolidating its position as one of the most significant cultural and tourism events in Mallorca.
Recognized by The Guardian as one of the 10 essential film festivals in Europe,
EMIFF will celebrate its 13th edition this autumn from October 30 to November 5 in Palma.
Participation in the ITB has been essential for the festival, where emphasis has been placed on showcasing it as a key off-season event that attracts culture and film enthusiasts to the island, while highlighting the islands as filming locations preferred for international film and television projects, as the festival director, Sandra Lipski, explained during her applauded presentation before an international audience yesterday in Berlin.
The promotion of EMIFF at the ITB underscores our dedication to expanding the festival's audience, introducing new events that appeal to non-film professionals, and fostering a culturally vibrant community. The festival aligns with the approach of the Govern by attracting high end tourism out of the peak season, while highlighting the island’s cultural potential. The festival has also explored new collaborations with interested companies, enhancing its support network and sponsorships for the upcoming edition.

Regarding the festival's program, Sandra Lipski's team is currently crafting the new lineup, which will match the festival’s usual high standards. Last year's roster featured a diverse selection of over 150 films, including both online and in-person screenings. Gala premieres included "UN AMOR" by writer/director Isabel Coixet, a Goya Awards nominee, “THE PROMISED LAND” presented by lead actor Mads Mikkelsen, a recipient of several European Film Awards, and "PERFECT DAYS" directed by Wim Wenders, currently nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 96th Academy Awards, to mention a few.
The 2023 edition of the festival attracted 5,000 attendees in Mallorca, garnered 15,000 views on our collaborating streaming platform BitPix and received over 20 million Views on social media. Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival is continuously ranked as of the top100 reviewed film festivals on the leading industry website filmfreeway.com and named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the 20 Essential International Film Festivals, offering a unique experience that blends an international community with local Mallorquin charm.
