Maria and the lost movie
Until now, Rosario Pi has been recognized as the first woman to direct a sound film in Spain: “El gato salvaje” (1936). But, an investigation initiated by Filmoteca Española raises the possibility that there was still another previous title. It is about “Mallorca”, a short film created recently, and signed by María Forteza.
Fins ara, la Rosario Pi ha estat reconeguda com la primera dona que va dirigir una pel·lícula sonora a Espanya: “El gato salvaje” (1936). Però, una investigació iniciada per la Filmoteca Española planteja la possibilitat que encara hi hagués un altre títol anterior. Es tracta de “Mallorca”, un curtmetratge descobert recentment, i signat per la María Forteza.
